Yesterday I helped sell sets of "three tea cups" donated by Central Oregon Community College ceramics students to benefit Greg Mortenson's Central Asia Institute, which has built 49 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan to date. Also in the sale were pen and ink drawings depicting Afghan life by middle school students in Central Oregon. Everyone who has read Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Relin or Greg's new book, Stones into Schools has been inspired by his vision of Promoting Peace, One School at a Time. Whether the crowds came to support the schools in Pakistan or were simply drawn to the beautifully crafted cups, we were swamped. My green jasmine tea was delicious and it felt wonderful to be part of the generosity of a community helping to build schools for children in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
