American Christian Fiction Writer's Conference

In September, I attended the annual American Christian Fiction Writer's Conference in Dallas with 500 hundred other writers, editors and agents. Deborah Raney's excellent Women's Fiction/Contemporary Fiction Workshop was a highlight. James Scott Bell was our keynote speaker.

Writing can be a solitary business. One of the best things about writing conferences is the chance to meet and encourage other writers in their journeys. Here are some fellow Oregonian writers at dinner on Friday night. Pictured here are: Rebecca Barlow (okay, one Texan), me, Sherry Ashberry, Cheryl Martin, Kelly Gilbert, President of Portland Chapter of ACFW, Ocieanna Fleiss, and Christina Berry. Sherry and Christina are a Mother/Daughter writing team who shared honors with me in a writing contest sponsored by Oregon Christian Writers when we first started writing our respective manuscripts in 2004. The prize was a critique with multi-published, Lauraine Snelling.
